After Thibaut Courtois blow, Real Madrid handed yet more concerning injury news

La Liga giants Real Madrid have been afforded yet another injury blow, late on Tuesday evening.

This comes amid confirmation that David Alaba’s recovery from a knee injury is not going as expected.

Stopper Alaba, of course, has been sidelined since December of last year, after becoming the third member of Carlo Ancelotti’s Real squad to suffer a torn ACL across the season to date.

The former Bayern Munich man subsequently went under the knife, ruled out for the remainder of the campaign as a result.

Early reports pointed towards the start of next season as Alaba’s comeback aim, though some more optimistic sources hinted that he could yet feature for Austria at this summer’s European Championships.

If the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, however, then the latter scenario is beginning to look increasingly unlikely.

As confirmed by Miguel Ángel Díaz of COPE, the 31-year-old today flew out to Innsbruck in his home country of Austria.

As much came with a view to seeing a specialist for his knee, with Alaba’s recovery ‘going slower than expected’.

This of course comes as the 2nd personnel blow for Real Madrid across the day to date, after Thibaut Courtois suffered a hefty setback in his own recovery efforts from an ACL tear.
