A key member of the first-team setup at Real Madrid has today put rivalries to one side, to send a message of well wishes to Barcelona star Pedri.
The player in question? Dani Carvajal.
Stopper Carvajal, for his part, departed Madrid this week, to link up with his international teammates in the Spain squad.
One noteworthy absence from Luis de la Fuente’s ranks for the country’s upcoming meetings with Colombia and Brazil, however, comes in the form of the aforementioned Pedri.
Midfielder Pedri, of course, is sidelined once more at present.
After spending a significant chunk of the first half of the campaign on the treatment table, it came as a blow for both the 21-year-old and Barcelona when word was forthcoming earlier this month that Pedri had picked up a new problem in his right thigh.
He has remained out of action since, with early reports having pointed towards the youngster as being unlikely to return until mid-April at the earliest.
Amid what is no doubt proving a hugely difficult stretch of his career on a personal level, Pedri, in turn, was today sent a message of support by compatriot Dani Carvajal.
Speaking in an interview with COPE, Real Madrid star Carvajal made use of the opportunity to publicly reach out to the struggling midfielder, assuring that ‘there is light at the end of the tunnel’:
“I want to send a big hug to Pedri. He is a wonderful boy. I want him to be calm and know that there is light at the end of the tunnel. I was also in a moment where I entered into successive injuries. Pedri is still very young and has a lot of years remaining. He will help us. He’s a true professional and I hope he’ll be with us at the EURO.”
