‘A problem in the dressing room’ – Deco urges Barcelona caution over Hansi Flick target

Barcelona’s rumoured pursuit of Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich has today been thrown into serious doubt.

This comes amid claims of major concerns on the part of the Barca brass, regarding the potential impact of the German international in the dressing room.

The name of midfielder Kimmich has of course long taken its place centre stage in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital.

This came amid widespread claims that the 29-year-old had been identified as the leading target of former manager Xavi, to reinforce the base of his midfield for next season.

The incoming Hansi Flick, who has previous experience working with Kimmich, meanwhile, is understood to have green-lighted the move, too.

If the latest word stemming from the Spanish media over the last 24 hours is anything to go by, however, then Flick could well be asked to seek out alternative targets.

This comes amid claims that an in-depth dive into Kimmich on the part of Barcelona sporting director Deco has resulted in major red flags being raised.

As revealed by Blaugrana insider Javier Miguel:

“Deco submitted a report (to the Barca board) stating that Kimmich is a problem player who creates a lot of tension in the dressing room.”

It now remains to be seen if Flick can convince the Portuguese otherwise…
