Zinedine Zidane decides to leave Real Madrid

Zinedine Zidane has decided to leave Real Madrid, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Reports earlier this month suggested that Zidane had told his players after their league match against Sevilla that he would be leaving the club.

On Wednesday, he confirmed his decision to Madrid’s board, and then the squad. Zidane ends his second stint with Los Blancos, despite having a contract until 2022.

Zidane, 48, returned to the Real Madrid job in 2019, having previously been in charge from 2016 to 2018.

Massimiliano Allegri, Antonio Conte – who left Inter Milan on Wednesday – and club legend Raúl are the candidates for the job, according to The Athletic.
