Xavi: “Winning while suffering is also a virtue.”

Last night Barcelona defeated Celta Vigo 1-0 in the eighth round of La Liga thanks to a goal from Pedri in the 17th minute.

In his post-match interview that appeared on Marca, Xavi argued that his team still has room for improvement:

“We have to improve, we have to be very self-critical. The first half was good. The second half wasn’t good, we stopped pushing and applying high pressure, perhaps due to tiredness, fatigue. Psychologically we dropped. Golden victory, but you have to consider the first half hour.”

“We’re not looking for excuses and we don’t like them. The second half can’t happen. It’s obvious that we are not living the best of times like we were two or three weeks ago. Winning while suffering is also a virtue. I’m not satisfied with the second part,” he added.

The Barcelona coach told journalists that he is not focusing on El Clásico just yet:

“Now I’m preparing for Inter. El Clásico is unpredictable, we arrived last year and it ended 0-4. You never know, but we will compete and show our personality.”
