Erling Haaland Spain’s biggest threat

Scotland, Norway, Georgia and Cyprus are Spain’s opponents ahead of Euro 2024.

Luis Enrique’s team have been drawn into Group A and will face Erling Haaland and Norway in their qualifying group for the tournament in Germany.

The top two from each group automatically qualify for the finals, which will be played from 14 June to 14 July 2024 in Germany. The first round of qualifying for the next European Championship will be played on 23 and 25 March 2023 and the final round from 19 to 21 November. The playoffs will be played from 21-26 March.

Haaland’s Norway will be Spain’s toughest opponent in Group A. The Manchester City striker has been on fire this season, scoring 15 goals in the Premier League.

“He is the star of world football,” said Spain boss Luis Enrique after the draw. Alexander Sorloth (Real Sociedad) and Martin Odegaard (Arsenal) are other names Spain will be keeping an eye on.

Norway and Spain have met eight times in the past, with La Roja recording five wins, one defeat and two draws. The only time Norway beat the national team was in 2000, in the first match of the European Championship (0-1).
