Xavi: “We felt the mental fatigue from the Super Cup.”

Last night Barcelona narrowly defeated Getafe at the Nou Camp in the 18th round of La Liga.

In his post-match interview that appeared on Marca, Xavi commented on the match:

“I don’t think we were good. We didn’t attack well. We have to improve, but the victory is very important. We kept a clean sheet. It wasn’t our best game at home. We felt the mental fatigue from the Super Cup. We paid for it.

“It’s an important victory, but we’re not doing well at all. We have to be honest. We took three points without playing well. In the second half we lacked aggressiveness in the opponent’s goal, in the first half we were better.”

The Catalan coach also said that this will not be the last time that Barcelona will play like this:

“There will be more matches like today. We want to play well and generate chances, but it’s not always possible. It was a tough game for us.”

Barcelona play Real Sociedad next in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday.
