Xavi speaks out on João Félix’s future at Barcelona

An update on João Félix’s future at Barcelona has been provided by manager Xavi Hernández.

On Sunday, Barca beat Atlético Madrid 1-0 to move into third place in La Liga, just four points off the top two, Real Madrid and Girona.

Félix, 24, scored the only goal of the game against his parent club. The Portugal international, on a season loan from Atlético, chipped Jan Oblak from a tight angle in the 28th minute.

The forward then sparked even more controversy by celebrating the goal against his parent club.

As reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano, Xavi wants Félix to extend his stay with the club but has reiterated that it is the board’s decision to make.

He said: “João Félix staying or leaving in 2024? You should ask the board.

“I’m super happy with him. He’s a top guy, nice and funny in the dressing room also. I like to have him with us.”

Since his move to the Spanish giants, the Portuguese has impressed, registering eight goal contributions in his first 17 games in all competitions.
