Xavi: “If there are no titles this season, you’re going to kill me.”

In his pre-match press conference, which appeared on Marca, prior to Barcelona’s semi-final against Real Betis, Xavi talked about the transfer market and the prospect of winning the Supercopa de España (Spanish Super Cup).

Xavi was asked about whether Barcelona will sign anyone this January:

“We don’t know anything. I’ve already said that if they don’t touch my squad, I’m happy. As far as I know, there is no news. I’ve met Mateu [Alemany], but we haven’t talked about it. If there is anything new, they will let me know. I’m happy with this squad.”

The Barcelona coach believes winning the cup would benefit his team:

“It would give us a morale boost, confidence and peace of mind to keep working. We will compete. We don’t have any absentees and we’re in good form, but we have to show it on the pitch.”

Xavi is confident that they will win at least one title this season:

“I’m here to win titles and if there are no titles this season, you’re going to kill me. We haven’t won any titles for a while and it’s about time we did.”

Barcelona’s semi-final match in the Supercopa de España kicks off today at 8 pm CET.
