Xavi explains why Barcelona stars are ‘pissed off’ at present

Barcelona head coach Xavi has provided an insight into the collective mindset of his squad at present.

Barca, of course, are fresh off securing a return to winning ways, at the expense of Valencia on Monday night.

After Fermín López’s opener was added to by way of a 2nd-half Robert Lewandowski hat-trick, the Blaugrana emerged on the right side of a 4-2 result.

Barcelona, as a result, have climbed back clear of Girona, into 2nd in the La Liga table.

And yet, if the latest comments on the part of the club’s manager are anything to go by, the Catalans’ stars are anything but satisfied.

Speaking to the media on the back of the full-time whistle at Montjuïc on Monday, Xavi was drawn on his side’s goals for the final weeks of the campaign.

This of course comes after nothing short of a nightmare week earlier this month saw Barcelona’s hopes of domestic and European glory alike brought to a definitive end.

And as much, Xavi has admitted, has left the members of his squad with prior experience of clinching silverware altogether ‘pissed off’:

“In the squad we have lots of footballers that have won many titles before. They’re pissed off with themselves because we did not compete for titles until the end.”
