Barcelona head coach Xavi has confirmed that he is playing an active role in the club’s efforts to plan for the 2024/25 campaign.
Spanish tactician Xavi, of course, is primed to bid farewell to his beloved Barca in the summer, having long announced his intention to depart the dugout in Catalunya’s capital upon the season’s close.
With the Blaugrana brass yet to source a replacement for their outbound manager, however, questions have long been asked when it comes to exactly what role the former midfielder is playing behind the scenes.
Speaking in a press conference ahead of his side’s La Liga showdown with Atlético Madrid on Sunday, the subject of precisely that, in turn, was put to Xavi himself.
Asked whether he is playing an active part in Barcelona’s planning process beyond the summer, the 44-year-old, in quotes gathered by Diario Sport, confirmed:
“Of course I participate in the sports planning for next season. I love this club. Deco and the president know it, that they have me for whatever they want and if I can help them, I will.”
Xavi was also keen to assure, however, that as much does not mean that he is considering staying put on the bench in Catalunya:
“My decision has not changed and remains the same as what I communicated.”
