Xabi Alonso has signed a one-year extension to remain in charge of Real Sociedad B until the summer of 2022, the club said on Friday.
German outlet Bild reported earlier this week that former Liverpool and Real Madrid midfielder Alonso was set to take over at Borussia Mönchengladbach next season.
The 39-year-old admitted to Real Sociedad TV that he is delighted to renew his current deal.
“I’m very happy and satisfied with how things are going so far. That’s why the club and I understood each other so easily when we started discussions. The board and myself have fluent communication and we want to keep helping and growing with the project to develop better players for the first team.”
