Wolves and Atlético Madrid close in on Felipe deal

Wolves and Atlético Madrid are close to arriving at an agreement regarding the transfer of Felipe, reports Fabrizio Romano.

The 33-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Estadio Metropolitano for the last couple of months. The Brazilian has had hardly a look-in this season in Diego Simeone’s side as the Argentine coach prefers to use midfielder Axel Witsel as a centre-back when Stefan Savić and José María Giménez are not available.

While both clubs are keen on the move, Wolves have been struggling to agree personal terms with Felipe. Nonetheless, Romano believes that a deal will be reached in the next 24 to 48 hours.

Felipe’s contract with Atlético Madrid is set to expire in June 2023, meaning he would most likely leave the club as a free agent at the end of the season if the transfer falls through.

The sale of the defender would allow Los Colchoneros to make a move for Leicester City’s Çağlar Söyüncü.
