Why Lewandowski will continue to make life difficult for Vitor Roque in season’s final weeks

The struggles for game-time being endured by Barcelona starlet Vitor Roque look unlikely to subside over the final weeks of the campaign.

That’s according to Diario AS, who have on Thursday provided an insight into the situation.

The name of frontman Roque has of course taken its place front and centre in the media headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the course of recent days.

As much comes amid mounting claims that the decision has been reached to farm the 19-year-old out on loan for next season.

Roque has endured a tough few months at Barcelona since arriving from his home country of Brazil during the January transfer window.

Sitting behind the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Ferran Torres and João Félix in the attacking pecking order under the watch of boss Xavi, the talented striker has been afforded a grand total of just two La Liga starts.

Roque, for his part, is nevertheless understood to be keen to stay put for next season, to fight for his place.

The youngster’s chances to prove himself over the current term’s final weeks, however, are expected to be limited at best.

Why? Robert Lewandowski’s Pichichi endeavours.

Veteran hitman Lewandowski of course catapulted himself back into the race for the La Liga top-scorer prize earlier this week.

A hat-trick at the expense of Valencia now leaves the 35-year-old just three goals off the pace of leader Artem Dovbyk.

In turn, as per the aforementioned AS:

‘The Polish forward will want to maintain his options to retain the Pichichi until the end,’ a fresh blow for teammate Roque.
