Gabri Veiga has been highly sought after this summer. Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool were all in for the young Spaniard. Having just signed Dominik Szoboszlai, Liverpool are no longer in the running for Celta Vigo’s prized asset, but he is still turning heads.
Veiga is 21 years old and can play as an attacking midfielder and a central midfielder. He started 28 league games for Celta last season and notched 11 goals, along with four assists in a brilliant breakthrough season.
He was one of the team’s key players as they finished in 13th place and narrowly avoided relegation. Veiga is currently away with the Spanish national team, playing in the Under 21 Euros; he has only been used as a substitute in a talented young Spanish team, but glimpses of his talent are still on display.
Pep Guardiola is thought to be a huge fan of the 21-year-old and sees him as a player who can ease the loss of İlkay Gündoğan. PSG have also been linked with the player.
