When will Brazilian forward Vitor Roque arrive at FC Barcelona?

An update on Vitor Roque’s transfer to FC Barcelona from Athletico Paranaense has today been provided by the club’s sporting director, Deco.

The Catalan club initially planned for the forward to join their squad in the summer, however, it was recently reported that this deal could be brought forward to January.

Barca’s current financial situation was considered as an obstacle in this process, but Gavi’s long-term injury means the club need attacking reinforcements in the upcoming transfer window.

As reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano, Deco has confirmed that Roque’s arrival will depend on Financial Fair Play even though the club are desperate to bring him in.

He said: “The incorporation of Vitor will be based on Fair Play. Depending on what we generate, we would do it.

“With Gavi’s injury, a new scenario arises and we are going to evaluate it based on what we can do.”

The 18-year-old, who has been signed since July 12, 2023, has a release clause of €500m and his contract will commit him to the Spanish giants until 2031.
