Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen misses training ahead of Rayo Vallecano clash

As reported by Sport, Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen missed another training session on Wednesday due to discomfort in his lower back, making him a doubt for the match against Rayo Vallecano.

Since the 31-year-old returned from the Germany training camp, he has been unable to train normally, further adding to Barcelona’s injury crisis. The Catalan club travel to Madrid to play Rayo Vallecano in the return of club competitions in four days, however, the goalkeeper didn’t train at Ciutat Esportiva this morning.

Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann previously explained that he was going to miss the two recent friendlies and hoped that “he will be available again soon to play with his team”. Ter Stegen has been working with the club physios with the aim of being available for the match in Vallecas.

However, on Thursday it is expected that Ter Stegen will continue to train individually away from the rest of the squad. Depending on his recovery, Xavi could be forced into giving Iñaki Peña a start this weekend.
