Barcelona are still 11 points ahead of Real Madrid at the top of the La Liga table after Los Blancos lost 4-2 away to Girona on Tuesday.
The Blaugrana travel to the Spanish capital on Wednesday to take on Rayo Vallecano with hopes of moving closer to clinching another league title.
If Barça win their next three games against Rayo, Real Betis and Osasuna and Madrid pick up no more than four points in their two upcoming games against Almería and Real Sociedad, the difference at the top of the league will be at least 16 points between the two great rivals.
Three consecutive wins would move Barça onto 85 points, meaning the Catalans could lift the title on Tuesday 2 May, when they welcome Osasuna to Camp Nou and there will only be a maximum of fifteen points up for grabs from the final five games.
If they don’t do it on 2 May, they are expected to do it at some stage later in the month as their 11-point gap at this stage of the season is a considerable one.
