An insight into the knock-on effect of Barcelona star Raphinha’s new contract with the club on the Blaugrana’s transfer plans has on Friday surfaced online.
This comes amid confirmation that the Camp Nou brass are no longer interested in bringing in Julián Alvarez from La Liga rivals Atlético Madrid.
Frontman Alvarez was of course heavily linked with a Barcelona switch throughout the summer, amid the efforts of Deco and co. to replace the departing Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres.
In the end, the transfer failed to come to fruition, as the Atlético brass refused to budge in their stance that the Argentine would not be allowed to join a direct rival.
Hansi Flick, in turn, has found his new centre-forward amongst those already at his disposal, with captain Raphinha thriving in his new striker role.
The Brazilian was this week rewarded for his ongoing excellence with a new long-term contract. And according to Diario Sport:
‘Raphinha is breaking scoring records and has just renewed until 2030. Goodbye, Julián, Barça no longer need him and even less for €100 million.’
