An insight into an alarming situation developing behind the scenes at La Liga giants Real Madrid has this evening been forthcoming online.
The info comes courtesy of the reliable Mario Cortegana of The Athletic, and points towards Real wide-man Vinícius Jr. as growing increasingly frustrated with those in a position of power at the club.
Why? What has been deemed on the part of the Brazilian as a lack of sufficient support, amid the ongoing racist abuse being directed at him from all angles.
Real, just today, unveiled a statement, confirming that the club have ‘filed a complaint with the Official State Prosecutor’.
As much comes in relation to the disgusting recent chants aimed at Vinícius by sections of the fanbases at both Barcelona, and Atlético Madrid.
The winger himself, however, was left disappointed by the reaction of the Santiago Bernabéu brass.
Vinícius is of the opinion that his employers ‘should have been quicker in making a public response’.
This marked just the latest incident to have sparked concern on the part of the 23-year-old, with The Athletic having highlighted another, just last week, as having seen tensions ‘reach a new flashpoint’.
The controversy stemmed from a post unveiled on Real Madrid’s official Instagram platform.
The post in question featured a photo of Vinícius, kissing the club badge of Los Blancos.
Below the image, however, was a ‘sticker’, showcasing the evolution of human beings from apes, fitted with the tagline ‘Vini Vici’ – an Israeli music group who have long utilised the graphic.
As backlash quickly poured in throughout the comments section of the post, it was soon deleted, with Real’s public stance having been that it came simply in error.
Vinícius, however, was nevertheless left furious with his club.
In fact, ‘so angered’ was the Brazilian international, that he gave serious consideration to sitting out one of his side’s most recent fixtures.
All of this comes with Vinícius, just last summer, having ‘briefly’ considered departing Madrid, after being left appalled by Los Merengues’ lack of support in the face of the racial abuse he suffered at the hands of Valencia’s supporters at the Mestalla.
Safe to say, then, that whilst all continues to go swimmingly for Vinícius on the pitch, matters away from it are less than ideal…
The powers that be at Real Madrid will need to step up their game, or risk losing one of world football’s most gifted attacking talents in the not-so-distant future.
