Barcelona handed injury boost before Atlético showdown

Xavi’s Barcelona have today been afforded some altogether positive news on the personnel front.

This comes in the form of confirmation that Ferran Torres has at long last linked back up with the rest of the Blaugrana’s squad in full training.

Xavi is of course currently in the process of putting his side through their paces, ahead of a crucial La Liga outing this weekend.

Fresh off sending Napoli packing to book their spot in the quarter-finals of the Champions League in midweek, Barcelona will turn their attentions back towards matters on the domestic front, in a showdown with Atlético Madrid.

The two sides are currently separated by just a solitary place in the La Liga table, with Sunday’s visitors to the Wanda Metropolitano boasting the advantage as things stand.

Safe to say, then, that all associated with Barca will be desperate to maintain, or potentially even extend this advantage, by way of a positive result in two days’ time.

And efforts towards precisely that could yet be aided by the return of a key member of Xavi’s attacking ranks to the club’s matchday squad.

As alluded to above, Ferran Torres was spotted back in training alongside his Blaugrana teammates on Friday.

The Spanish international has been on the sidelines since all the way back in late January, owing to a significant hamstring injury.

Though he is unlikely to feature from the off in Madrid, early murmurs point towards a place on the bench against Atlético as being a real possibility, meaning Torres could yet go on to make a telling impact before the upcoming two-week international break.
