Villarreal are set to race Real Betis to sign Ayoze Pérez from Leicester City, report Estadio Deportivo.
As communicated last week, Real Betis have begun negotiations with The Foxes regarding the signing of Pérez this month.
However, it appears as though Villarreal are also interested in signing the Canarian striker. The Yellow Submarine are in the market to reinforce their forwards department following the departure of Arnaut Danjuma to Tottenham.
Pérez’ contract at the King Power stadium is set to expire in June 2023 and this January would be the last opportunity for Leicester City to receive a transfer fee for the Spaniard. Thus, the English side are keen to finalise a sale in the next few days.
It is believed that Leicester City will leave it up to the player to choose which club he would prefer to go to.
Pérez joined Leicester City in 2019 and was part of the team that won the FA Cup in 2021.
