Last night Athletic Club defeated Valencia 3-1 at the Mestalla in the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey.
In his post-match interview that appeared on Marca, the Basque side’s captain Iker Muniain looked back at the game:
“We had a very complicated opponent in front of us, who came out strong and pressed us. After the equaliser we were able to turn it around again and with the 1-2 score, I think the team was able to control the game quite well. We put together different plays and continued to create chances.”
The 30-year-old believes that the win will give Athletic Club a boost:
“It’s the trajectory that we have to follow. It’s been a few semi-finals in a row and we want more.”
During the interview, Muniain also expressed that they “are already thinking about Sunday”, when Los Leones travel to Galicia to face Celta Vigo in La Liga.
