Barcelona captain Sergi Roberto has confirmed that he’s leaving the club this summer, putting an end to his 18-year spell at the Spanish giants.
The veteran saw his contract expire at the end of June and has been unable to agree on renewal terms with the club.
Roberto has made 373 appearances for Barca, scoring 19 goals and notching 43 assists from fullback. During this period, the Spaniard has won seven La Liga titles, six Copa del Rey trophies, five Spanish Super Cups and two Champions League titles.
He also won one UEFA Super Cup and one Club World Cup during his time at the club. Although the 32-year-old started out as a central midfielder, he has operated in various other positions for club and country. Roberto has been used as a right-back and even as a winger.
The defender today took to social media to confirm his exit and thank the fans for their support.
He said: “Culers, the time has come to thank you for all this trip we have done together. Long live Barcelona, forever!”
