Valencia are in advanced talks with Cagliari for Christian Oliva, according to Valencia-based journalist Héctor Gómez.
Valencia want to bring in the midfielder to strengthen their central department in the last few hours of the transfer window.
Los Che are light in the central midfield area and can currently only count on first team players Carlos Soler and Uros Racic. Oliva, 24, is a defensive midfielder. The Uruguayan is currently plying his trade in Serie A with Cagliari, who he joined from Nacional of Uruguay.
