Incoming Valencia sporting director Braulio Vázquez already has a name in mind to take up the managerial reins at the club for the remainder of the campaign.
That’s according to COPE, who point towards Ernesto Valverde as the tactician in question.
It has of course been a day of major change at Mestalla to date on Sunday. After a five-game winless streak to open the season left Valencia bottom of the La Liga table, Los Che’s board sprang into action.
All of manager Carlos Corberán and his staff, and CEO Ron Gourlay and his team of directors, were fired with immediate effect this afternoon.
A new sporting director, in turn, has already been appointed, after Peter Lim and co. managed to lure Braulio Vázquez away from La Liga rivals Osasuna.
And as alluded to above, Vázquez, for his part, has since set his sights firmly on a potential replacement for the outbound Corberán.
As per a report from COPE:
‘Ernesto Valverde is Braulio Vázquez’s favourite to take the bench at Valencia.’
Former Barcelona headmaster Valverde has for his part been out of work since bringing a close to his latest stint with Athletic Club this past summer.
