Valencia defender Cenk Özkacar rejects interest from Turkey

As reported by Relevo, Valencia player Cenk Özkacar has rejected interest from clubs in Turkey, but wants to make the switch to Italy

The defender has put aside the interest from clubs of his country, but is motivated to play in Italy. Despite this, the international is yet to receive a formal offer from an Italian side.

Özkacar decided that he wanted to leave when he saw that his inclusion in the Turkey squad ahead of the summer European Championship could be in jeopardy and therefore has taken steps to increase the chance of his departure. Serie A is the 23-year-old’s preferred destination.

The central defender has put aside, at least for the moment, the interest of Turkish clubs such as Trabzonsport. Cenk is likely to leave on loan and therefore a transfer to the Italian league is a likely outcome.

Despite a lack of formal offers, the player is confident that he will attract interest from Italian clubs, which is the primary reason why he has rejected interest from his home nation, as he believes a better offer will arrive in time. Several clubs in Italy have asked for more information on the player’s situation, meaning an offer will likely arrive before the end of the winter transfer market.

On the other hand, the player is happy in Valencia and is aware that he will have his chance when Diakhaby is not there and there are two games a week. This is the main reason why the Turk will only leave if the club that calls him, understands his motivations and makes him an important part of the project.
