Unai Emery confirms decision to stay at Villarreal: “Villarreal is my home”

Unai Emery has released a statement confirming his decision to stay with Villarreal despite interest from Newcastle United.

“Villarreal is my home and I’m 100 per cent committed. I’m honestly grateful for the interest shown by a great club [Newcastle]. I’ve communicated my decision to Fernando Roig and want to continue being part of this project,” Emery said.

“I want to thank the fans for the support they have always shown me.

“On Sunday, we have a really important game [against Getafe] and I hope that together we can achieve victory. We’ll see you at the Estadio de la Cerámica.”

The 50-year-old, who guided Villarreal to Europa League success this year, has a contract with the Yellow Submarine until 2023.
