Two Barcelona supporters arrested after directing racist gestures towards PSG fans

In the wake of Barcelona’s 3-2 victory over Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final, videos emerged of fans of the La Liga club directing racist gestures towards the home supporters. Two arrests have now been made, local authorities have revealed.

A video, posted on X (formerly Twitter), showed two fans in the Barcelona away end directing Nazi salutes and monkey chants towards the PSG fans. The local authorities took swift action against the two individuals in the video. The morning after the game, the Paris Police Prefecture took to social media to reveal that two arrests had been made in relation to the incident.

The two supporters were arrested for vindication of war crimes and public insults of a racist nature, the authorities revealed, via a press release on X. PSG travel to Catalunya next week with Barcelona looking to secure progression to the semi-final of the Champions League, where they would face either Atletico Madrid or Borussia Dortmund.
