Carlo Ancelotti explains Rodrygo’s Real Madrid training absence before Mallorca

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has this afternoon provided an explanation for key attacker Rodrygo sitting out the club’s latest training session on Friday.

Real, of course, are currently going though their final preparations for a return to domestic action this weekend.

Sandwiched between the club’s two Champions League quarter-final meetings with Manchester City, Los Blancos will make the trip to Son Moix on Saturday evening, for a La Liga clash with RCD Mallorca.

Put through their paces earlier today, it therefore came as a source of concern when the aforementioned Rodrygo was nowhere to be seen.

A key protagonist in getting himself on the scoresheet on Tuesday night, the Brazilian’s absence for Real Madrid’s trip to The Etihad would mark a heavy blow.

Speaking to the media a short time ago, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of Rodrygo’s wellbeing was put to none other than his manager.

And, in his response, Carlo Ancelotti quickly quelled any and all fears:

“Rodrygo took a knock yesterday but he will be available (to face Mallorca).”
