Barcelona starlet Lamine Yamal has today moved to reveal his admiration for teammate and close friend Pau Cubarsí.
As much comes with the pair, of course, continuing to steal the headlines, having been called up for international duty with Spain’s senior squad this week.
Fresh off playing pivotal roles in Barcelona advancing to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, and then climbing into 2nd in the La Liga table, Lamine and Cubarsí, on Monday, departed Catalunya, to link up with Luis de la Fuente’s Spanish ranks.
For the former, it is his third call-up, despite the fact that Lamine, incredibly, remains just 16 years of age.
And Cubarsí, at 17, is following close behind with his maiden La Roja call, expected to feature in at least one of the country’s upcoming friendly meetings with Colombia and Brazil.
Earlier today, after linking up with the rest of De La Fuente’s squad, Barcelona’s prodigious pair of talents therefore sat down for an interview with the RFEF.
And a number of comments on the part of Lamine, in particular, caught the eye, with the explosive winger having been keen to lavish praise on Cubarsí as both a person, and a footballer:
“He is a very nice guy, I almost have him as a housemate, because we live together in La Masia. A nice, humble kid, very good, very good person.”
Lamine continued:
“Pau is a top three defender in the world at bringing the ball out from the back.”
