Thomas Tuchel springs surprise with 3 changes to Bayern XI to face Real Madrid

The XI of stars set to take to the pitch for Bayern Munich in their showdown with Real Madrid on Wednesday night has been unveiled.

And it features one altogether head-turning inclusion, in the middle of the park.

The change in question sees Aleksandar Pavlović take his place alongside Konrad Laimer at the base of Thomas Tuchel’s midfield.

Pavlović, still just 20, has been afforded starts in just 13 of Bayern’s fixtures across the season to date.

Evidently, though, the Bavarians’ coaching staff feel that the German is ready to prove his talents on what is essentially the biggest stage imaginable.

His introduction forces the vastly more experienced Leon Goretzka to the bench, in a move that could see boss Tuchel labelled either a genius or joker back in Munich by the night’s end.

Elsewhere in Bayern’s line-up at the Santiago Bernabéu, Matthijs de Ligt returns at the back in place of Kim Min-jae, whilst Thomas Müller also drops out, for compatriot Serge Gnabry.
