Thomas Tuchel confirms Marcos Alonso’s plan to leave Chelsea

Marcos Alonso is getting closer to becoming an FC Barcelona player.

The full-back has already said goodbye to the Chelsea staff after asking Thomas Tuchel not to play against Everton.

And the Chelsea boss has listened to him, with Alonso being left out of the squad for the match against Everton on Saturday evening.

Chelsea manager Tuchel was asked about Alonso’s situation on Saturday.

“He tries to leave and we agreed to this wish. That’s why it would not have made sense to put him on the pitch today. He would’ve been on the pitch otherwise but in this situation, it was the right thing to do,” the German coach said in quotes picked up by football.london.

In the next few days, Alonso is set to become Barcelona’s sixth signing for the 2022-23 season, after Kessié, Christensen, Raphinha, Lewandowski and Koundé.

It is believed the experienced left-back wants to return to Spain for “personal reasons”.
