Thibaut Courtois confirms Carlo Ancelotti’s goalkeeper headache for season’s end

The display put forth by Real Madrid star Thibaut Courtois on Saturday no doubt proved a headache-inducing one for head coach Carlo Ancelotti.

This comes with the Belgian having made clear that he is more than ready to contribute over the season’s final weeks.

Courtois, for his part, was afforded his first start of the season this evening, taking his place between the posts in a La Liga meeting with Cádiz.

As much, of course, comes after a lengthy spell on the sidelines with an ACL injury.

Safe to say, however, that the former Chelsea man looks as though he never left…

A flawless display on Saturday, featuring one particularly impressive save in a one-on-one Cádiz breakaway, saw Courtois provide any who may have forgotten of his status as one of world football’s very best goalkeepers.

And one who was no doubt playing particularly close attention comes in the form of headmaster Carlo Ancelotti…

Across the week to date, Real’s boss has been peppered with questions surrounding the possibility of Courtois replacing Andriy Lunin as his first-choice between the posts over the season’s final weeks.

This of course comes with Los Blancos just a single game away from booking their spot in the Champions League final.

Lunin, for his part, has shone bright in Courtois’ absence, playing a pivotal role in his side’s successes on the domestic and European fronts alike.

The fact remains, though, that the Ukrainian is simply not Courtois…

And a major decision awaits Carlo Ancelotti as a result.
