Carlo Ancelotti’s incredible run broken by Xavi

Xavi’s first title as Barcelona coach ended a drought for the Blaugrana and also an incredible run of form enjoyed by Carlo Ancelotti that had seen the Italian coach become unbeaten in single-legged finals since 2010.

Having had spells at PSG, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Napoli, Everton and Real Madrid again, the Italian had been involved in 10 one-off finals and had not lost any of them, report Mundo Deportivo.

Most of them have been with Real Madrid, where he had won all the finals he had been in to date: 2 Champions Leagues, 1 Copa del Rey, 2 European Super Cups and 1 Club World Cup.

With Bayern Munich, he won two German Super Cups in 2016 and 2017, and an FA Cup and a League Cup during his stint with Chelsea.

Barcelona got the better of Ancelotti’s Madrid side in the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia on Sunday night, beating their rivals 3-1.
