The latest social media activity on the part of Brazilian icon Neymar has piqued widespread attentions online this evening.
This comes after the attacker appeared to aim something of a dig at Kylian Mbappé.
Neymar, and Mbappé, of course, spent a full six years lining out alongside one another, with French heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain.
Across this stretch, the pair enjoyed countless memorable moments on the pitch, not least upon being joined by Lionel Messi at the Parc des Princes, giving rise to one of the most talented attacking tridents in football history.
Behind closed doors, however, things, it would appear, may not have been quite so rosy.
As much was hinted at on Monday evening, anyway, by none other than the aforementioned Neymar himself.
The name of wide-man Mbappé, of course, has taken its place front and centre in the headlines over the course of the last week, after he informed the PSG brass of his decision to move on in the summer.
Bound for La Liga leaders Real Madrid, many a supporter of the Parisians have, in turn, made their frustrations with Mbappé very much known, for what is evidently viewed by some as the 25-year-old turning his back on the club.
And, after stumbling upon one such post criticising Mbappé’s behaviour en route to engineering a move away from Paris today, Neymar hinted that his former teammate is fully deserving of as much.
The post in question – which alludes to the ‘ego of a certain Frenchman’ – is showcased below.
And, as per Diario Sport, its message was publicly endorsed by Neymar, courtesy of a ‘Like’ on his official IG account.
‘No player should be superior to an institution. PSG, an example of football management. They knew how to bring together the best players and had the best team on the planet. When the team began to perform well, the ego of ‘a certain Frenchman’ began to disturb the atmosphere. Mbappé began to feel excluded, the majority of the team spoke Spanish and he threatened to leave the team. In order not to lose their precious Mbappé, PSG began to sell those who did not agree with Mbappé’s thinking and brought to the French players he wanted. After doing everything possible to make everything go the way he wanted, Mbappé informed PSG that he would leave the club for free at the end of the season. And in the end, this is what PSG is left with.’
