Serie A giants Napoli are expected to announce a change on the club’s bench, prior to their upcoming meeting with Barcelona.
That’s according to a whole host of outlets in the Italia media, who have on Monday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
As per La Gazzetta dello Sport, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis this evening held a face-to-face meeting with Francesco Calzona.
As much came with a view to the imminent appointment of the Italian in the dugout in Naples.
The subject of the hotseat at Napoli has of course dominated the headlines across Europe over the last 48 hours, owing to claims that the Partenopei were ready to bid farewell to Walter Mazzarri.
And, amid a stretch of just two wins in 11 across all competitions, as much now looks as good as done.
GdS point towards Calzona being all set to replace Mazzarri, with an official announcement potentially set to arrive as early as Monday night.
Calzona, a former assistant to Maurizio Sarri at the San Paolo, will also maintain his role as manager of the Slovakian national team.
As much, of course, throws something of a curveball in the path of La Liga heavyweights Barcelona, ahead of the showdown between the two clubs in the Champions League Last-16 on Wednesday night.
