Taty Castellanos on scoring four goals against Real Madrid: “I had to take a pill to sleep.”

Girona striker Taty Castellanos found it hard to sleep after scoring four goals in a dream performance against Real Madrid in La Liga on Tuesday night.

“It was unbelievable, a dream night. I couldn’t even sleep well and I stayed up until four in the morning without being able to rest. I even had to take a pill to be able to sleep. I had messages all over the place and I also had family and friends at home after a dream night in Montilivi with our fans. You don’t score four goals against Real Madrid every day,” he told Jijantes in quotes reported by Mundo Deportivo.

He added: “Scoring the first was a dream come true. When I saw the ball go into the net so many things came to my mind… My family, my friends… It was huge for me and as the other goals went in I couldn’t believe it. I shot five times and scored four goals. This was my night, I thought.

“I have my feet on the ground. My entourage help me to be balanced. I’m the same and I’m going to stay the same. We have to take it step by step because we have another game against Sevilla on Monday.”

Girona third-highest scorers in La Liga

Girona are the third-highest scoring team in the Spanish top flight, behind only Barcelona and Real Madrid. Xavi’s side have scored a total of 54 goals, only six goals more.

Míchel’s men have conceded 45 goals in the 2022-23 league campaign and with eight games to go, they have virtually secured another year of top-flight football.

In Barcelona’s hands

Barcelona are 11 points ahead of their great rivals Real Madrid at the top of the La Liga table after Los Blancos’ 4-2 defeat to Girona.

The Blaugrana travel to the Spanish capital on Wednesday to take on Andoni Iraola’s Rayo Vallecano with hopes of moving closer to clinching another league title.
