Talks between Barcelona and Manchester United advancing for Frenkie de Jong

Talks are advancing between Barcelona and Manchester United for midfielder Frenkie de Jong, according to Fabrizio Romano.

After a €65 million verbal bid, Barcelona are asking the Premier League outfit for an overall fee of €85-86 million (€65m guaranteed + €20m in add-ons).

After several weeks of talks, the clubs are moving towards an agreement for the Dutch international, who has a contract at Camp Nou until 2026.

De Jong is one of the priorities of new Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, who worked with the player during a successful stint at Ajax.

It is expected to be a crucial week in the negotiations between the clubs, who have a good relationship.

The fee would enable Barcelona to get their own summer signings through the door. Denmark international Andreas Christensen will join after leaving Chelsea.

The club will return for pre-season next week before they travel to the United States for their pre-season tour, where they will face Real Madrid.
