Sporting CP target Barcelona’s Héctor Bellerín

After arriving at FC Barcelona in the summer as a free agent from Arsenal, Héctor Bellerín hasn’t managed to impress. The right-back hasn’t fit into Xavi’s plans, and has only featured in three league games this season.

Marca reports that while Barcelona originally didn’t plan on selling the Spaniard, recent interest from Sporting Lisbon may change that. The Portuguese club will be looking for a right-back in the likely case that Pedro Porro leaves this winter transfer market, and they consider Bellerín an ideal replacement.

While there has been some initial contact between the two parties, the operation would not be easy as Barcelona would want to find a defender to replace the departing player. After letting go of Gerard Piqué and Memphis Depay, yet another transfer with no replacement would further decrease the squad depth at Camp Nou.

Furthermore, Bellerín has a €50m release clause, so Sporting will have to negotiate a lower price. With only a handful of days left in the transfer window, the operation overall will require a high amount of effort.
