Sevilla president José María del Nido Carrasco has tonight provided an update on the futures of two of the club’s veteran stars.
The players in question? Sergio Ramos, and Jesús Navas.
As much comes ahead of the expiration of both stopper Ramos and winger Navas’ terms in Andalusia in the summer.
The former put pen to paper on a one-year contract with his boyhood club last summer, since going on to establish himself as an integral member of Quique’s backline.
Captain Navas, meanwhile, will see the terms of a five-year deal run out in June.
Despite being set to turn 39 later this year, though, the former Manchester City man, too, continues to act as a key figure at the The Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán.
In turn, it should come as little surprise to hear that Sevilla are keen to keep hold of both experienced campaigners, with a view to next season.
Speaking to DAZN, as cited by Mundo Deportivo, on Tuesday evening, the aforementioned José María del Nido Carrasco was asked for the latest on the contract situations of both Ramos, and Navas.
And the Nervionenses president went on to suggest that he and his colleagues are ready to sit down with the pair in the summer, to discuss respective renewals.
The final call, though, will ultimately be left with Ramos and Navas themselves:
“We are very happy. Both he (Ramos) and Jesús Navas are two world champions raised in our sports city. They (their contracts) are not issues that we have addressed directly, but we will do so when the season ends. It will depend on what they want.”
