Sevilla pair join training ahead of Atlético Madrid clash

Sevilla’s prospects for the club’s upcoming showdown with Atlético Madrid have on Thursday been afforded a boost.

This comes by way of confirmation that two members of Quique Sánchez Flores’ attacking ranks were spotted in training alongside the rest of the club’s squad this morning.

The players in question? Alejo Véliz, and Erik Lamela.

Frontman Véliz, of course, was a mid-season addition to Sevilla’s ranks, after arriving on loan from Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur.

He has since failed to feature for the Nervionenses, though, owing to a knee injury suffered back in December.

But, after taking to the training pitch in Andalusia for the first time earlier today, the 20-year-old could well be in contention for his long-awaited debut against Atlético Madrid this weekend.

And the Argentine could well be joined in Sevilla’s frontline on Sunday by fellow countryman Erik Lamela.

Wide-man Lamela, for his part, was forced to sit out each of his side’s last two La Liga fixtures, after picking up an injury in training.

He, too, though, was part of the group led by boss Quique on Thursday, giving rise to hope of an imminent return to matchday duties.
