Sergio Ramos sends message to Real Madrid fans over Bernabéu reception

Sevilla star Sergio Ramos has taken to social media on Monday evening, to express his gratitude to the Real Madrid faithful.

This, of course, comes after the veteran defender marked his return to former stomping grounds in Spain’s capital late last night.

Almost three years on from closing the curtain on the Real Madrid chapter of his career, Ramos lined out at the Santiago Bernabéu as an opposing player for the first time.

Despite a stout defensive display, his Sevilla side were ultimately put to the sword by a goal to nil, owing to a late moment of brilliance on the part of Luka Modrić.

And yet, Ramos, from an individual standpoint, enjoyed an evening to remember.

The 37-year-old was the recipient of a standing ovation ahead of kick-off, upon his name being read out by the stadium announcer.

And, as alluded to above, 24 hours on, Ramos has moved to confirm his gratitude to the fans of his former club.

In a post on his official Instagram account, the Spanish international wrote:

“An unfortunate result because the team gave everything. We have to keep working like this and remain determined and united.

“Thank you, Bernabéu, for the love received. Touched, proud and grateful.”
