As reported by Santi Ovalle, Barcelona defender Ronald Araújo wants to sign a new deal with the La Liga club.
The Uruguayan’s contract expires in June 2023 and he has generated interest from several clubs, particularly in the Premier League.
Barça and the central defender’s representatives have so far failed to reach an agreement over a new deal due to the offer on the table. Despite this, Araújo wants to stay at Camp Nou.
He has told Barcelona manager Xavi and his team-mates of his intention to remain at the club.
Araújo’s agents are not satisfied with the club’s initial offer, which is lower than that of Pedri and Ansu Fati and is much lower than the offers coming from England.
Xavi considers the 23-year-old to be an important player and has told the club that he considers it “very important” that he stays.
