Robert Lewandowski makes personal gesture to lift spirits of Barcelona squad

Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski on Monday moved to provide a much-needed morale boost to the rest of the Blaugrana’s squad.

This, of course, comes fresh off what have proven to be a tumultuous couple of days in Catalunya’s capital.

After being put to the sword by Villarreal in alarming fashion on Saturday, just days on from being sent packing from the Copa del Rey, confirmation was forthcoming that head coach Xavi has come to the decision to step down upon the season’s close.

The news of their boss’ imminent exit has since hit Barcelona’s players hard, with several understood to have been brought to tears during a team meeting on Sunday.

In turn, 24 hours on, one such star has moved to lighten the mood at the club.

As was confirmed by a number of sources earlier today, the Blaugrana’s stars convened for a players-only meal on Monday, to discuss the situation, and lay out their goals for the remainder of the term.

And it is has since been revealed that the meeting was organised by frontman Robert Lewandowski.

In fact, the get-together was held in the Pole’s home in Catalunya, as relayed by the likes of Mundo Deportivo, and El Chiringuito TV.

Only two senior members of Barca’s squad were absent, Marcos Alonso – undergoing treatment for a back injury, and Alejandro Balde – who has travelled to Finland to undergo surgery.
