Real Sociedad star in the sights of Liverpool

A leading member of the midfield ranks at La Liga outfit Real Sociedad has made his way firmly onto the radar of one of the giants of English football.

That’s according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, who points towards Martín Zubimendi as the player in question.

Midfielder Zubimendi, for his part, is fresh off another fine campaign with the aforementioned Sociedad, which saw the 25-year-old shine from his deep-lying berth once more.

Such endeavours proved enough to secure for Zubimendi a place in Spain’s Euro 2024 squad, too, with the gifted technician having gone on to feature for La Roja on four occasions, en route to eventual glory in Germany.

With such excellence has come long-standing interest in Zubimendi’s services, with Barcelona, for one, having been tipped as a potential landing spot on more than one occasion in the past.

As alluded to above, though, on Wednesday, the 10-time capped international has been linked with a move to the Premier League.

As per a report from Fabrizio Romano:

‘Liverpool are exploring move for Martin Zubimendi as new midfielder, as there’s [a] €60m release clause in his contract.’

Negotiations between the parties are expected to follow in short order, with Zubimendi, potentially, in line to secure his long-touted move to one of the continent’s leading clubs before the summer is out.
