Real Sociedad close in on Bryan Gil

Bryan Gil was signed for €25 million-plus Erik Lamela by Tottenham last summer. The Spaniard hardly played for the North Londoners in the first six months and was sent on loan to Valencia in January.

Fast forward to the summer of 2022 and Spurs are already looking to cash in on him, according to Golsmedia. Antonio Conte has already signed Richarlison and Ivan Perisic. Any hopes that Gil had of becoming a regular starter in England have been quashed. Spurs’ attack is too crowded for the player’s liking and he wants minutes.

The 21-year-old had an impressive loan spell at Valencia but stats would suggest otherwise. He ended last season with a solitary assist and no goals. But it was his goal-leading actions that stood out. Now, with José Bordalás gone, Gennaro Gattuso also wants the player in his squad. Valencia have already enquired about a possible loan for Gil but Spurs are looking to sell him.

While Valencia did manage to sign Gil last January, the player is now exploring the possibility of joining Real Sociedad. After the Copa del Rey final, the winger was no longer a regular starter for Los Che. The Basques were interested in him last winter and now they have returned to the race to sign Gil.

The player believes that he will have minutes at the Reale Arena. La Real are in the Europa League next season and that could be the decisive factor in their favour.

While Spurs are looking to sell him, a loan move appears more likely, at this stage and Real Sociedad are the best placed club in Spain to take the former Sevilla player on loan this season, for a fee.
