Real Sociedad head coach Imanol has this evening responded to the ongoing speculation linking him with a move to La Liga rivals Barcelona.
Imanol’s name, of course, has taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Barcelona over the course of the last week.
This comes amid widespread media claims that the 52-year-old is considered a prime candidate to replace the departing Xavi on the touchline in Catalunya’s capital.
Enjoying another solid campaign in San Sebastián to date, Imanol is understandably held in high regard by those in a position of power at Barca.
Speaking to the media on Friday, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of a potential summer move to Catalunya was put to the one-time Real Sociedad defender.
Ahead of his side’s trip to high-flying Girona on Saturday, however, Imanol was quick to reiterate his unwavering commitment to the cause at Anoeta.
“I’m at the best, very best club here at Real Sociedad,” he began.
“They trust me and I’m proud of being here. I really want to keep making history at Real Sociedad. I just hope to extend my contract here, that’s my wish.”
