Real Sociedad boss Imanol provides positive Mikel Oyarzabal update before PSG

Real Sociedad head coach Imanol has this evening provided an update on the wellbeing of star performer Mikel Oyarzabal.

This comes ahead of the club’s incoming showdown with French giants Paris Saint-Germain.

La Real are of course primed to get their European campaign back underway on Wednesday night, when they make the trip to the Parc des Princes for the first leg of the club’s Champions League Last-16 tie with PSG.

In the buildup to the clash, captain Oyarzabal, though, has long been considered a doubt to feature.

This comes with the Spanish international having been forced to sit out both of his side’s last two outings, owing to a muscular problem suffered against Girona at the beginning of the month.

Manager Imanol, in turn, had consistently moved to play down the chances of Oyarzabal featuring in Paris on Wednesday.

Speaking in a pre-match press conference late this evening, however, Sociedad’s headmaster appeared altogether more upbeat regarding the possibility.

“Tomorrow we will clear up doubts,” he began, as cited by Mundo Deportivo. “You already know him (Oyarzabal), if he is even minimally well, he will be on the pitch. It will be Mikel and 10 more. If he has come [with the squad], it is because he has options [to play]. If there is a time to put everything on the table, it is tomorrow. If everything goes as we hope, tomorrow he will be on the field no matter what, because of everything at stake.”
