Real Madrid’s Vinícius Jr responds to racist abuse from Atlético fans

Real Madrid star Vinícius Jr. has taken to social media this afternoon, to provide his response to the recent abuse directed at him by way of a group of Atlético Madrid supporters.

Atlético, of course, were back in action late last night, when they booked a spot in the Champions League’s quarter-finals at the expense of Italian giants Inter Milan.

Prior to proceedings getting underway at the Wanda Metropolitano, however, a contingent of Rojiblancos fans were caught on camera outside their side’s ground, taking aim at the aforementioned Vinícius in frankly disgusting fashion.

The individuals in question chanted:

‘Alé Alé, Alé, Vinícius chimpanzee’

And, as alluded to above, on Thursday, the man at the centre of the chants has issued a public response.

Taking to his official ‘X’ account, Vinícius reposted footage of the Atléti fans responsible, accompanied by an understandable call for UEFA and the Champions League authorities to take immediate action:

‘I hope you have already thought about their punishment, Champions League, UEFA’

‘It’s a sad reality that even happens in games where I’m not present!’
